Focusing on Your Strengths

In Marcus Buckingham’s book entitled Now, Discover Your Strengths, he presents the thesis that individuals should leverage their strongest attributes instead of focusing on improving their faults and failings. He argues that by finding and refining key strengths, individuals can increase their productivity and improve their overall job satisfaction. Buckingham also points out that only 20 percent of employees at large corporations feel that their strengths are at play in every day work situations. By identifying employees’ natural talents and building them into strengths, organizations will improve performance. The book provides an excellent online StregthFinder Profile assessment tool that can help determine a person’s top 5 strengths and natural talents. The online test helps to identify which of the 34 themes of human talent are most prevalent at the individual level.
